The media could not be loaded.Firstly, this is another great pallet knife that RGM is offering, I say this with the caveat of being a lightweight RGM fan however the reason for this is not solely because they offer very well made knives but because of the affordability of their products. Everyone likes a cheap product but everyone still has a certain level of standards. Basically if it’s crap you couldn’t even give it away for free. This being said I also am honest in my opinion when critiquing any sort of product that I personally pay for because the information given, when said in a true and honest form, can be recieved by others in a productive manner. No company can buy their way to a successful business it comes organically and RGM has shown this to me, thus far.Enough rambling, back to business at hand. So this pallet knife “Step Line” is essentially a very well thought out knife for the most part. The feel is smooth yet controlled, feels good in the hand and the weight is perfect. You can habe confidence in the ergonomics, they keep it simple and thats the way it should be for something like this. As far as the business end of the knife is concerned the “shape” is something you’ll have to decide if you prefer or not as this is one of the more subjective features. I like the shape but tend to prefer to apply paint with a more elongated style of knife(think of a tool to ice a cake or spread butter on toast) but this is of course my own personal preference. Also the coating used greatly diminishes any glare as seen in my sub-par painting of a flower.. I can see this being useful while painting plein air.Overall there is not much to dislike about this particular pallet knife… except for one inconvenience(here comes the honesty) which can get kind of annoying at times which in a way is unfortunate because it directly involves the coating that helps prevent the glare. Specifically that is the cleaning of the knife because paint does not readily come off the knife when wiping with a paper towel, it seems to stick to surface even after multiple attempts at trying to clean it. Of course some solvents will clean it easily but when in the act of painting it is such an inconvenience to have to wipe a pallet knife multiple times to clear it of color so that you can have a pure color when using it. Their other pallet knives without the coating cleans much easier and takes solely a single wipe of the towel..Regardless, even with its minor fault of being a bit of hassle to clean the pallet knife its still a very good knife to use to mix up paint and such. These are ultimately just my opinions but they are at least honest. So I hope this tangent helps some one in some way.At the end of the day its just a piece of bent metal with a wooden handle, right?..An “???????” piece of bent metal with a wooden handle..
