Description This is an unusual upright shrub for filtered light. It is a slow grower, but it will eventually reach around 6′ tall. The leaves remain on the top of the stems only (much like a palm tree) and the flowers shoot from the foliage. Erythochiton blooms most of the year. The flowers are white, emerging from showy reddish/orange bracts. It is quite attractive. The plant itself is narrow, good for tight spaces, and quite elegant. Very good as a potted plant. Freezing temperatures should be avoided. This is a rarely offered tropical plant.
