Hesperaloe Parviflora Yucca is commonly known as red yucca. This live plan is perfect for adding a pop of color to dry gardens. It features waxy tubular flowers that are coral-red on the outside and yellow inside reminiscent in shape and color of aloe flowers. The long, narrow, arching blue-green leaves have deep grooves and white fibers along the edges. That grass-like evergreen foliage may blush slightly purple or reddish-bronze during chilly temperatures in winter. Beginning in summer, clusters of flowers are borne on red stalks that go all the way up to 5’ to 6′ high. Use red yucca as an ornamental highlight in desert landscapes, rock gardens, or perennial gardens, or on rocky slopes or hillsides. A fine candidate for large pots too on a sunny patio or porch. Heat-loving as well as drought tolerant and tolerant of cold down to zero F when established, this evergreen perennial succulent is hardy. Grows to 3’ to 4’ high and 2’ to 4’ wide. Grows and flowers best in partial sun to full sun. Adaptable to various soils but thrives in poor soils. While drought tolerant it appreciates occasional irrigation in summer to encourage flowering.
